TopDog Volleyball Club

We are excited that you will be joining TopDog Volleyball Club for Club tryouts!

Our goal is to create a fun, instructional, and competitive sports environment for youth interested in learning and growing in the great sport of volleyball. 

During tryouts, we will be looking for highly motivated volleyball players who demonstrate athleticism, growth potential, enthusiasm, coachability,  and solid volleyball skills performance for older age divisions.  It is expected that younger age divisions that are new to volleyball have varied experience levels  from beginner to experienced. 

We will also be looking for how players show up as an athlete, possess a positive and resilient attitude, communicate effectively, demonstrate leadership, bring visible energy and effort exemplified throughout tryouts. 

Local, Regional and National Teams will be formed from tryouts based on skill level and overall tryout performance.  Tryouts will allow coaches to assess potential and performance for best fit with the most appropriate team.

12U and under teams will participate in tryouts to assess skill level and team appropriateness, but will not go through cuts. Teams for 13U and above age divisions will be selected based on skills. Feedback will be provided to players who do not make a team.

The fee to try out is $50 for all age divisions. 

Tryout t-shirts will be provided to all participants to wear during July tryouts along with a tryout number. Late tryout registrants will receive a tryout t-shirt based on availability and on a first come, first serve basis and while supplies last. 

Parents and players should arrive early to complete the check-in process prior to the start of Tryouts. Tryouts will begin promptly on time, as scheduled. Players should bring all their gear and water, as needed. Parents will be requested to return to the gym 15-30 minutes prior to the end of tryouts to discuss the results and the Callback/Team Assignment evaluation process, if a spot is offered.

Warm-up exercises are a key part of the tryout evaluation process, so late arrivals should be avoided at all costs. Participants must stay for the entire duration of tryouts to be fully evaluated and considered for a team.  Please plan accordingly.

Club staff will provide further directions on the day of tryouts, as needed, and answer any questions about the process at Tryout Check-in. A parent/guardian is required to be present at the beginning and end of tryouts to discuss next steps.

Players should come hydrated, bring plenty of water, and be prepared to give their best performance. 

Finally, while we encourage all to participate in the early rounds of tryouts due to obvious benefits of being selected to a competitive team early, we understand that July tryouts may not be feasible for all due to long-standing conflicts. TopDog Volleyball Club is governed by and complies with all USAV and SRVA policies and regulations. Consequently, all tryout participants must purchase or hold an active USAV/SRVA membership in order to tryout with the Club. 

Those that are new to Club Volleyball, please visit www.srva.org to purchase a USAV and SRVA "Tryout" membership prior to tryouts. Please bring the membership number or proof of membership to the Tryout Check-in along with the Medical Release form contained herein.

For participants who played Club Volleyball last year as a USAV and SRVA  member, please simply write your assigned member number on your printed copy of the Medical Release form for reference, as it is valid until 9/1/2024. This will need to be submitted at the Tryout Check-in.
